Administration

(100) Administration Committee: Insures the security of the parish through proper attention to resources, finances, and planning for the future and maintenance of building and grounds.

(101) Finance Committee: Advises Father Lou, Parish Council and School Advisory Council (SAC) in matters of finance. Assists the Business Manager and the Parish Council in carrying out the financial business of the Parish. Duties include analyzing the parish financial statement, monitoring the parish cash flow, supporting the annual budget process, and making financial and process recommendations. Members of the group are appointed by Father Lou.

(102) Membership Renewal Committee: Promotes membership as a “way of life.” lt is what we do after we say, “We believe” in all aspects of of lives – at home, at work, and at church. Each year there are two official membership renewals so parishioners may recommit themselves to God through their participation in our parish community.

(103) Area Representative: Organizes assigned Area into an effective representative body. instrumental in communicating to the Parish Council the concerns, hopes, and dreams of the parishioners in their Area. Sends birthday and anniversary cards and welcomes new parishioners in their Area. Serves as member of Parish Council.

(104) Parish Council: Made up of area reps, a secretary, a chairperson along with the chair of each committee.

(105) Money Counters for Sunday Offering: Counts weekly collection contributions, and prepares bank deposit.

Formation

(200) Formation Committee Member: Promotes educational and spiritual growth in the parish community. Plans and provides faith, formation education, and spiritual enrichment to help all parishioners to grow from “cradle to the grave”.

(201) Children’s Liturgy: Provides children age pre-K through 2nd grade, who have not yet made their First Communion, the opportunity to learn about the Gospel at their own level during the 10:00 A.M. Sunday Mass.

(202) Vacation Bible School(VBS) Leader: Invites children from preschoolers through fifth grade to learn Scripture stories and take part in fun summer activities, including songs, games, Bible lessons, science experiments, crafts, and snacks.

(203) VBS Adult Helper: Teaches crafts, games, and Bible story activities, related to age appropriate group.

(204) VBS Youth Helper: Assists leader in teaching, crafts, games and Bible story activities.

(205) RCIA Sponsors or Team Members: Collaborates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program. Helps welcome and initiate adults to full communion in the Catholic Church

Parish Life

(300) Athletic Committee Member: The Athletic Committee coordinates sports programs for parish and school youth.

(301) Parish Life Committee Member: Plans various parish activities, and provides hospitality and refreshments for our parish, such as Coffee and Donuts after the 10:00 A.M. Mass the first Sunday of every month.

(302) Athletic Coach: Coaches various team sports such as volleyball, basketball, archery, track, etc.

(303) Easter Egg Hunt Volunteer: coordinates and sets up for the Easter Egg Hunt after the 10:00 am Easter Sunday Liturgy.

(304) Fish Fry Volunteer: Cooks and serves the Friday Lenten Meal, and sets-up, and cleans up dining area. The parish Fish Frys occur only during Lent.

(305) Holiday Bazaar: Help to disseminate information to the various craters and booth vendors. Sell refreshments during the show. Assist with advertising and decorating.

(306) LEO’s on the GO (50 & Older Group): Activities planned throughout the year with Senior’s from St. Frances of Rome, including going out to eat, Book Club, and field trips.

(307) Picnic Volunteer: Assist with setup and clean-up, booth captain or booth worker, assist with chicken dinner/setup/clean-up. advertising, etc.

Outreach

(400) Social Concerns Committee Member: Strives to raise consciousness about social justice issues and endeavors to be actively involved in the civic, church, and world arenas. Promotes the understanding of every person’s dignity. Committed to helping provide basics such as food and clothing

(401) Bereavement Hospitality Coordinator: Shops for and delivers a meat and cheese tray, plus other food items to the funeral home for the visitation of the family’s departed loved one.

(402) Clifton Oaks Nursing Home Communion Minister: Distributes Communion to residents at Clifton Oaks Care Center, and assists in any spiritual need that the residents may have. Time commitment is one visit per week.

(403) Parish Visiting Team: Visits fellow parish members who are confined to their homes or nursing homes, takes Communion to them; and just shares time with them. This wonderful ministry helps keep our home bound and nursing home parishioners connected to our church.

(404) Justice Ministry: This is a group of parishioners who are engaged in the faith based, direct action community organizing group CLOUT (Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together). This ecumenical, racially and economically diverse organization works to accomplish systematic change in our community. we participate in partnership with Catholic Charities.

(405) Maryhurst Giving Tree: Provides over 150 teen girls with Christmas gifts through the “Maryhurst Giving Tree.”

(406) Open Hand Ministries: St. Vincent Depaul serves free meals totheir shelter clients as well as the working poor in our community. The Open Hands Kitchen is open 365 days a year, serving two nutritious meals each day. The cafeteria-style dining room offers an entree, vegetable, salad, dessert, bread, and beverage.

(407) Prayer Blanket Ministry: Sews small blankets for those who are suffering illness or loss. The Prayer Blankets are made with a small pocket that is used to insert a book of prayers. The Prayer Blanket is a tangible sign that the recipient is lifted up in prayer by our St. Leonard Faith Community.

(408) St. John’s Day Center: st. John’s Day Center helps homeless men address barriers to self-sufficiency and housing so that they may leave homelessness for good. Serves lunches several times a year and provide hats and gloves for those in need.

(409) St. Vincent Depaul Society: Provides financial, rent, and utilities assistance to families in our designated area.

(410) UCHM (United Crescent Hill Ministries): Ecumenical community ministry assisting persons in the 40206/40207 census track. Provides programs for children and seniors, and emergency assistance programs for residents. UCHM is highly involved and vested in their neighborhood communities of Crescent Hill, Clifton, Clifton Heights, and Butchertown. The most direct way you can help UCHM, and the people they serve, is through donating your time and resources.

Parish Operations

(500) Arts and Environment Committee: Helps plan and set up an attractive and appropriately decorated liturgical worship space during the liturgical seasons of the church.

(501) Church Cleaning: Assists in periodically helping with light cleaning of the church on Fridays or Saturdays. Heavier cleaning before Easter and Christmas. All are welcome.

(502) Church Linens: Assists in the caring for and laundering of altar purificators, corporals, and other small church linens.

(503) Parish Bulletin/newsletter: Assists with writing articles, and taking photographs for the bulletin and the Double Scoop newsletter

School

(600) PTO: Raises funds which seek to provide additional funding for school programs and activities such as an, music and computer equipment not covered by ordinary operating revenues

(601) SAC (School Advisory Council) Member: Advises in the policy making process that formulates and adapts policies in regards to the school

(602) Class Assistance: Work with the classroom teacher and help with special projects and or special events, as needed

(603) Library Assistance: Help arrange, sort, and/or help with special events such as Scholastic Book Fair

(604) Rafflemania: PTO Raffle to raise funds for PTO budget. Coordinate raffle with Treasurer and Parish Business Manager. Volunteers needed to stuff envelopes, help with advertising and ticket sales

(605) Room Parents: Coordinate with classroom teacher and PTO to organize classroom parties, volunteers, and various school activities

(606) Scholastic Book Fair: Help to set up the book fair and help children to find books appropriate for their age and reading level. This Fundraiser helps the library acquire new books for all ages

(607) School Office Administrative Assistance: Provide administrative support in the school office

(608) Skate Parties: Coordinate with School and Champs Rollerdrome twice a year for school wide skating party

(609) Taste of St. Leonard: Adult evening of Food, drink, and both Silent and Live Auctions. Largest Fundraiser of the year for PTO. Multi committee event: Auction, Food, Decorating, Social, and Advertising

(610) Trunk or Treat: Community event held in October. Children trick-or- treat to decorated cars (instead of houses) in the church parking lot. There are prizes for best costumes and decorated automobiles and includes the 8th grade Haunted House Fundraiser.

(611) Welcome Family: Reaches out to new families of the school, helping them acclimate.
