An Update from Fr. Steven
My Dear St. Frances of Rome Parishioners,
I am writing to express my appreciation for your support and prayers which have made possible the recovery period following my cervical spine surgery, nearly four months ago. The outpouring of cards, notes and words of encouragement has been humbling and so encouraging.
I continue with physical therapy (PT), both clinical and at home, on a regular basis. Special thanks to “my” PT team as well as to the many medical professionals who have aided in my recovery thus far.
I am pleased to report that slow but steady process in both repairing nerve damage as well as in ensuring that the screws and fusions in my neck remain on track has been evident. My level of pain and discomfort has been reduced significantly as I have gradually transitioned to a more “normal” schedule.
It is evident that recovering full and complete, pre-surgery, use of my right arm will take a bit longer than I had originally anticipated, perhaps as long as a year. And I am reminded that 100% may not occur, so, I try to remain patient and committed to the recovery journey.
God in His providence has blessed me. So, when I hold my right arm up with my left to shake hands or to celebrate Mass, know that I consider those times to be “God winks” as He is in charge.
With gratitude,
Father Steven
