The People’s Work
That’s what the ancient Greek word litourgia or liturgy means. You might not think of it as work, but there are certainly jobs involved in our liturgies. Currently 40 over the weekend masses at both parishes, 24 At St Frances and 16 at St Leonard. And that doesn’t count priests and musicians. Lectors, ushers, sacristans, it takes a lot of volunteers to make it possible for us all to come together in the first and most important ministry of all, the work of being a member of the congregation, the assembly. So as we take up the work of prayer each week, let’s be thankful for those whose work makes it possible for us to encounter Christ in one another and in the eucharist.
